Minimax design criterion for fractional factorial designs

چکیده
An A-optimal minimax design criterion is proposed to construct fractional factorial designs, which extends the study of the D-optimal minimax design criterion in Lin and Zhou (Canadian Journal of Statistics 41, 325–340, 2013). The resulting Aoptimal and D-optimal minimax designs minimize, respectively, the maximum trace and determinant of the mean squared error matrix of the least squares estimator (LSE) of the effects in the linear model. When there is a misspecification of the effects in the model, the LSE is biased and the minimax designs have some control over the bias. Various design properties are investigated for two-level and mixed-level fractional factorial designs. In addition, the relationships amongA-optimal,D-optimal, E-optimal, A-optimal minimax and D-optimal minimax designs are explored.

Generalized Resolution and Minimum Aberration for Nonregular Fractional Factorial Designs
Seeking the optimal design with a given number of runs is a main problem in fractional factorial designs(FFDs). Resolution of a design is the most widely usage criterion, which is introduced by Box and Hunter(1961), used to be employed to regular FFDs. The resolution criterion is extended to non-regular FFG, called the generalized resolution criterion. This criterion is providing the idea of ge...
متن کاملGeneralized Minimum Aberration for Asymmetrical Fractional Factorial Designs
By studying treatment contrasts and ANOVA models, we propose a generalized minimum aberration criterion for comparing asymmetrical fractional factorial designs. The criterion is independent of the choice of treatment contrasts and thus model-free. It works for symmetrical and asymmetrical designs, regular and nonregular designs. In particular, it reduces to the minimum aberration criterion for ...
متن کاملMultistratum Fractional Factorial Designs
Recent work on multistratum fractional factorial designs is set in a general and unified framework, and a criterion for selecting multistratum fractional factorial designs that takes stratum variances into account is proposed. Application of the general theory is illustrated on designs of experiments with multiple processing stages, including split-lot designs, blocked strip-plot designs, and p...
متن کاملOptimal Fractional Factorial Split-plot Designs for Model Selection
Fractional factorial designs are used widely in screening experiments to identify significant effects. It is not always possible to perform the trials in a complete random order and hence, fractional factorial split-plot designs arise. In order to identify optimal fractional factorial split-plot designs in this setting, the Hellinger distance criterion (Bingham and Chipman (2007)) is adapted. T...
متن کاملMaximal Rank - Minimum Aberration Regular Two-Level Split-Plot Fractional Factorial Designs
Regular two-level fractional factorial designs are often used in industrial experiments as screening experiments. When some factors have levels which are hard or expensive to change, restrictions are often placed on the order in which runs can be performed, resulting in a split-plot factorial design. In these cases, the hard or expensive to change factors are applied to whole plots, whereas the...
